Fifty kilometers to the county seat of Yongding, it is located in Chuxi Village, Xiayang Town, Yongding County, Fujian Province. Chuxi Earth Building Complex is composed of five round buildings and dozens of square buildings with major scenic spots such as 590-odd-year-old Jiqing Building built in 1419, which is one of the most ancient specially-structured round buildings still existing in Yongding. There are generally 2-4 stairways in each round buildings, and the stories communicate with each other. However, this building is an exception. Every household from the ground floor to the fourth floor has installed their own stairways, with wood boards separating the passage to each storey. 72 staircases divide the whole building into 72 self contained units.    Read the article
